I just love all the fuzz about Vista.

‘Is that all? Clunky and not very intuitive vs. Mac OS X; warmed-over XP’
"Compared with Mac OS X 10.4, Windows Vista feels clunky and not very intuitive, almost as though it’s still based on DOS (or at least the internal logic that made up DOS). Despite the addition of a system-wide, built-in search, and various efforts to break away from staidly old directory trees, you still need to drill down one level to even access the search."

‘Windows Vista: the best reason to buy a Mac?’
1. Vista is incomplete
2. Vista is expensive
3. Vista wants a new PC
4. Vista is time-consuming
5. Windows XP isn’t obsolete
6. Vista may be the best reason yet to buy a Mac
Julio Ojeda-Zapat, The St. Paul Pioneer Press
‘Vista’s pretty, but it’s a shameless Mac OS X imitator’
"It’s a fine Windows upgrade, but it’s also a shameless rip-off (and not quite the equal) of another major operating system, Apple Computer’s Mac OS X."
My opinion about Vista:
It is an upgrade from XP. It is more secure, but not enough as a lot of the XP malware are already updated to be Vista-ready. It looks nice. Microsoft copied some OS X features well and some not so well. It’s so full of DRM. The amount of different versions makes consumers confused. It needs too much resources.
One good thing in Vista that OS X doesn’t do natively: Gaming. And DirectX10 sure seems good.
Conclusion:
As Vista needs a new powerful computer, for many people it’s not just a question about moving to a new operating systems, but also buying a new computer. That’s why I won’t recommend buying a new PC with Vista. Buy a new Mac and install Vista if you really need to, but because Vista looks and feels like Mac OS X and don’t really understand why anyone would like to do that. Okay, there are the gamers and many companies use Windows and there can be some applications you can’t run in Mac OS X. There are almost always OS X alternatives to those applications, but if you want to use the same application as you use at work or so on…
Here’s the help: Bootcamp, Parallels Desktop for Mac, VMware Virtualization for Mac. You can do all that.
- Bootcamp: You can install Vista into a new Mac. So you can just select while booting which operating system you want to use.
- Parallels: You can use Vista while using OS X. It’s just a new window. The technique is called virtualization and nowadays it’s almost as fast as the real deal.
- VMware: You can run Windows applications in OS X without even installing Windows.
