I couldn’t sleep, so what the heck, I’ll make a new post. I’m moving in tomorrow. I’m very very happy about the room I got. It’s just in the middle of Barcelona. With this nice spanish girl that promised to help me. I’m happy that I got a spanish roommate because this way I’ll learn to speak spanish sooner and she can help me with a lot of things.
The apartment isn’t so big. Well, it’s big for 2 people and my room is pretty big also. It’s a bit more expensive that I was prepared at first, but I’ll be happy to pay it when I think about the rooms/apartments I saw. I’ll be moving there Friday afternoon.
I like to cook and I enjoy good food. Spain is a good place to be for me. In our school welcoming surprise they offered us spanish tortillas (potato omelette), sandwiches, catalonian champaign and much more great snacks. It was in this beautiful place next to our school buildings. When we went to eat with Mari, the tapas were just superb. I had my fist Clara today. Which is a common drink here with beer and lemonade. It was delicious. I know there are many great foods and drinks still to come…
About the interview I mentioned in a earlier post. It was a weird situation. I made a post in www.loquo.comthat I was looking for a room. This journalist from www.los40.com/revista40saw my post and asked me with e-mail that could she interview me for this magazine. They were making a story about erasmus students and wanted to know my experiences and why were I here. Tuesday she called me when I was in the university and wanted me to take some extra clothes for the interview. It seemed a bit weird, but she said that it was for the photos. We were supposed to meet in this metro station at 4pm.
I went to the metro station. I were a few minutes late and I called to the journalist. She noticed me immediately when I came from the station doors. Tall and pale boy must be the erasmus student from Finland. Journalist was very nice and beautiful. She spoke good english. The photographer didn’t and he spoke so fast spanish, that I couldn’t understand almost anything he was saying. They took me through these small streets to this square in Cracía.
In the corner was this laundry place (I don’t know what it’s called). It had big windows, the sun was shining in and people were soon watching what were we doing. At first I didn’t even realize that there were people watching because the journalist was asking me all these questions about my eramus experiences and the photographer was setting things up.
After the interview was over the photographer asked if I had the extra clothes. They wanted me to be like a exhausted student in a new city washing clothes. I pulled the clothes from my bag and started posing. They were very nice and told me where to go and what to do. The clothes were in a cart at first. Then they wanted to take one shirt in my hand. Of course I took the one I had to take with me, the spanish football team shirt. The both started laughing and said “Good choice”.
The photos didn’t take so long, but it seemed a long a time because it was hot, the sun was shining and there were no air conditioning. Soon I realized that the people were looking from the square. I was a bit ashamed. They thanked me a lot and I left to my next showing that day. The story should be published in october. I’m going to by a few copies…
Good night/Buenos noches…
Mikko
